Google has already confirmed that Android M is actually Marshmallow and version 6.0 but the devices speculated to first showcase the new software remain shrouded in mystery. To date, not one detail tells anything solid about the Nexus 2015 release date.
But there is one flagship device that the vanilla Android flagship is all about except that it is not the official Google smartphone this 2015. Inside and out, the Moto X 2015 - Moto X Pure Edition for U.S. buyers and Moto X Style for the rest of the world - is Nexus and Motorola has indicated that it will be available soon, likely starting on September 3.
So while wait for the still unsure Nexus 2015 when the Moto X 2015 is for real, right now. Aside from the fact that the Motorola flagship is ready to take home real soon, below are the reasons to forget Google's Nexus and take the third-generation Moto X instead:
Souped up specifications
From the first two builds, Motorola is definitely serving a huge step up all packed in the Moto X 2015. What follows scream of a top-notch smartphone:
- 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD Display
- Hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chip, paired with 3GB of RAM
- Up to 64GB of internal storage with option to expand up to 128GB
- Camera combo of 21MP F2.0 rear and 5MP front with the system boasting of front and rear LED flash
- Dual stereo front-blasting speakers
- Metal (aluminum) design
- Water-repellent coating
It could be that the upcoming LG and Huawei Nexus will easily upstage the specs above but that remains speculative while the Moto X 2015 package has been clearly defined.
Massive display but no blown out profile
The third Moto X is the biggest of the bunch at 5.7-inch screen but the build itself is far from overkill. It is a phablet but Motorola's slim bezel design rendered the device slightly smaller than the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and a just a tad bigger than the 5.1-inch Samsung Galaxy S6. This is based on the profile size comparison chart released by Motorola.
The LG Nexus 5 2015 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch display but its actual device profile could be in the same size with that of the Moto X 2015, thereby ensuring that the latter may be bigger but not necessarily a pain to handle.
Better camera and battery features
When Motorola introduced the new Moto X, the company highlighted two features - a vastly improved camera as shown in the specs above and a larger battery pack at 3000mAh. And with Turbo Charging technology and USB Type-c port part of the mix, the device is sure to charge up real fast - up to 50% of battery meter gained in just 30 minutes of recharging, Motorola claims.
And the Moto X maker is quite upbeat that the latest iteration will be counted as among the best camera smartphones out there. Now it remains to be seen if any of the Nexus 2015 models will deliver the same.
Customization galore
Thanks to Moto Maker, the pure Android that the Moto X 2015 is very much open to customization that allows users to configure the handset in a manner that best reflect their personality. This option will not be on board when the Nexus 2015 rolls out.
Native Android, attractive pricing
The Moto X 2015 will unbox with the latest Android Lollipop version running the show but since the device stands on near vanilla Android platform, users will not wait very long and Android 6.0 Marshmallow will soon sweeten the kit. Then having the native Android build, the Moto X is assured of getting the software patch and updates real quick.
And the best part about the Moto X 2015 is the $399 starting price that the Google Nexus 2015 on release date will difficult to match given its upgraded components. Rumors say the best that Google can do is to make sure that its signature phone will sell no more than $500 for the basic model.
