Kobe Bryant is on the final year of his two-year extension. It is also presumed that he would probably retire after the end of the 2015-16 season.
The Black Mamba's last two years were spent primarily on the injured list and it seems like Father Time has caught up with the competitive player after 19 seasons.
One of Kobe's numerous legacies is his signature shoe line with Nike. Currently, we have the Kobe X and for sneaker fans, the next-and possibly final iteration is worth waiting for.
A report from Kicksologist has the concrete details every sneakerhead, Kobe fan or not, is waiting for:
"The Nike Kobe XI will tentatively launch on January 9th, 2016 in low top form. Notice that an Elite version is the first color and model to launch. Normally, it's just a standard version, with all this interesting news so far, it'll be exciting to see how Nike closes Kobe's playing career."
Great news that there is a release date announced, but the article also stated that the venerated shoe line will not actually cease even when the Mamba hangs up his sneakers from the court.
With the recent Nike Rise Tour in Asia, the hoops and sneaker world witnessed Bryant's lasting popularity and Nike will reportedly continue the shoe line even after Kobe officially retires from the NBA. Yes, the player who is known for emulating Michael Jordan will also tread the same path, sneaker-wise.
