New details for developer Koemi Tecmo and Omega Force's "Attack on Titan" game for the PlayStation platforms have been revealed. The game will be set in the same time and period as what fans were able to see in the first season of the anime. This will be amplified by the fact that the voice actors for the main characters will be reprising their roles for the game.
Strategy is one of the biggest ways to deal with the battlefield. For every step that a player takes, there will be a connection to the way that he will propel forward in the game. Because of this, the battlefield is unpredictable and continually changing. There will be a number of levels scenes that can change alongside the environmental destruction, such as collapsing walls or roofs, Gematsu reported.
When engaging in battle against the titans, players will also have to make use of the 3D Maneuver Gear to fly about. This emulates not only the plan of attack but also the actual attack because players will need to target certain body parts of the titans.
Fans of the Japanese anime version of "Attack on Titan" would also be happy to know that, visually, Koemi Tecmo's game looks very similar, Forbes reported. It seems that this was the main aim of the developer, stating that the game wants to capture the anime's overall feel.
Apart from the anime's aesthetics, fans can also expect the same kind of adventure involving the main weapon against the titans, the 3D Maneuver Gear. Koemi Tecmo's Tomoyuki Kitamura, director for "Attack on Titan," also revealed that in creating the 3D Maneuver Gear, they took into consideration the one-player focus and the mechanics of using the weapon.
According to Kitamura, they had to shift focus from what the team behind "Dynasty Warriors" had done before-which is a single player facing against several enemies-to fit how battle works in "Attack on Titan." As fans know, this involves multiple soldiers fighting to take down one Titan.
To achieve the best combination of fighting and flying using the 3D Maneuver Gear, the director revealed that they had to redo the system several time s to get it right. Part of the mechanics of controlling the gear is that players will reportedly have to also use strategy in going for the kill. It's the same as how the soldiers, such as Captain Levi, Mikasa Ackerman, Erwin Smith and lead hero Eren Jaeger fight in different ways in the manga and anime adaptation.
"Attack on Titan" from Koemi Tecmo and Omega Force will be released on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. A enw trailer has been released, seen below. The game is due to launch in Japan later this year, while those in North America and Europe can expect the game next year.
