As F1 racers push for their Belgian Grand Prix this weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps, most of them together with fans reckon Michael Schumacher's success at the track and continue their support for the famous F1 racer.
Schumacher's colleague champions, Mika Hakkinen and Sebastian Vettel narrated their good times with the renowned F1 superstar.
Vettel acknowledged that joined the fight for Ferrari this year because it was his mentor's team, New York Times unveiled. He indicated that he had developed a close relationship with Schumi two years prior to the unexpected skiing accident at Meribel Resort that left Schumacher with brain injuries in December 2013. Before the accident happened, Schumacher had been Vettel's mentor whereby he gave him pieces of advice.
Talking to the New York Times, Vettel said, "I was looking up to him and still I am in many ways. But it was obviously a shift, as soon as I got to know him, and you think more of the person rather than the racing driver and the success and the statistics.
In other news, Finish F1 champion, Hakkinen referred to Schumacher as both a "rival" and a "Friend" whom he holds in high esteem for competing against him fairly and for being a great driver, Motorsport Talk reported. Despite Schumacher's contentious chop in which case he hit Hakkinen's left front wing endplate, Hakkinen indicated that it did not make a big deal to him.
Hakkinen said, "I respected him and I think he respected me. We raced each other hard, but for the most part we also raced each other fairly. He was a terrifically combative competitor. You do not win seven world championships by being soft hearted, and Michael was never that; but he was a superb driver, one of the bet in the history of the sport in fact."
About the current health state of Michael Schumacher, Hakkinen hopes that a miracle graces the renowned F1 racer.
