The new public funded tablet, created by Jolla, is now available as a pre-order product, and is set to be released in October.
Jolla has been making a new handheld, the aptly named Jolla Tablet, and can now be pre-ordered.
The tablet is crowdfunded and relies heavily on donations and financial backing from their Kickstarter program Indiegogo with its supporters pitching in when it comes to financing the technology.
The Jolla tablet is also unique in terms of its development, with amateurs, enthusiasts and professionals alike, submitting and suggesting the most popular features that they want in the tablet, according to Engadget.
This tablet boasts, high powered quadcore Intel Atom Central Processing Units with x64 architecture, a 7.9" screen with resolutions up to 2048p, a 2 Megapixel front camera with 5 Megapixel main camera, a battery capacity of over 4000 mAh, and 32 and 64 options for the storage, Digit reported.
The tablet also is installed with an exclusive, motion based Operating System, named the "Sailfish". The new device will be installed with the latest patch, named the "Sailfish 2.0".
Sailfish 2.0 is the revised version of the original, with many improvements such as cleaner gesture commands and less buttons for navigation.
The pre-order is only available in HongKong, Canada, the United States, the European Union, Norway, India and Switzerland. The international 32 gigabyte preorder slate can be pre-ordered at a little over 300$ and the 64 GB edition will cost 50$ more.
The pricing however still depends on the region of the buyer, with different taxes being imposed in different countries, with American buyers able to buy it with a lower price.
Meanwhile, the much smaller and phone technology based, Jolla smartphone with the original Sailfish OS has already been launched, with almost the same price tag that of the tablet, with 1GB Memory, a 4.5" screen and a 16GB storage medium.
