According to Slash Gear, OnePlus 2 (OP2) and Moto X Style, which were both announced last July 28, were bound to be compared to each other because of their similarity in appearance and function. No doubt, the smartphone users cannot help but think which of these two mobile devices is worth their money.
One of the important aspects of a smartphone is power. On this regard, both OnePlus 2 and Moto X Style possess respectable features. OnePlus 2 is being operated by Snapdragon 810 with a 64-bit octa-core while the Moto X Style has the weaker Snapdragon 808 with a 64-bit hexacore. However, OP2's heating problems might ruin the 810 chip, giving Style a slight advantage on this area.
Unlike OnePlus 2, Style has its own "mobile computing system" which will solve both the natural language and the contextual processing problems of the Snapdragon chip.
In terms of battery life, OP2 possesses a non-removable 3,300 mAh battery while Style has a non-removable 3,000 mAh. Even though the OP2's battery is better at first look, the Style offers a "Turbo Charger" feature, which will enable the user to charge the smartphone within only 15 minutes. After charging, Style could be used for an estimated time of 10 hours.
Concerning the screen display, OP2 is measured at 1920 x 1080 ppi while Style has 2560 x 1440, giving the latter a clear advantage. It was evident that OP2 does not want to engage in the screen resolution battle because the manufacturer believe that a 5.5-inch smartphone does not need high screen quality.
Peter Lau, founder of OnePlus, said the company was more focused on improving the brightness and clarity aspects of the latest model than providing high screen resolution because for them, those are the real indicators of the smartphone's success.
According to The Revoluzionne, in terms of storage, OP2 is available at 16GB and 64GB versions while Style has 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions. Style's major advantage in this regard is that it provides a slot for a microSD memory card that would extend the storage capacity of the smartphone to 128GB.
Style also won the battle in camera features because OP2 has only 13-megapixel rear camera compared to Moto X's 21-megapixel. On the other hand, the 5-megapixel front snapper of OP2 was also defeated by Style's 5-megapixel front camera, which infused additional specs such as bigger lens aperture and the flash technology.
Concerning the availability, OP2 is cheaper with a starting price of $329 while Style is priced at $399. Although OP2 was already released last Aug. 11, the smartphone can only be purchased using the dreaded "invite-only system", making it less accessible to the market. Meanwhile, Style will become available in Europe, Latin America and North America by September.
Overall, based on the facts that were presented by tech experts, Moto X Style appears to be the better smartphone compared to OnePlus 2.
