A leaked photo of the 2016 Toyota Prius is currently circulating online showing the car that appears to be inside a shipping container.
The photo was posted on the Facebook page of Prius Club Malaysia and was quickly picked by World Car Fans. The photo shows that car's projector headlights shaped like a boomerang and a two-stage grille setup. The car also appears to be slightly bigger compared to the current model.
The 2016 Toyota Prius was built based on the Toyota New Global Architecture. The company promises that the hybrid car will provide more fuel and power efficiency compared to its predecessor. The new Prius is a fourth-generation car.
Toyota claims that the new Prius is 10 percent more fuel efficient compared to the third-generation model. The older model has a combined efficiency of 50 miles per gallon. Industry experts predict that the new Prius will have a fuel efficiency of around 55 miles per gallon of maybe even more.
Under the new Pruis' hood is a hybrid engine comprised of 1.8-liter petrol unit and an electric motor with 110 kW power output. The upgraded battery pack will make sure that the car's electric motor mileage will increase from 11 miles in the previous model to about 35 miles in the new one.
As of the car's design, it still retain that high-tailed hatchback and the second glass panel that give drivers a better rearward visibility, according to Yahoo Autos.
The 2016 Toyota Prius is scheduled for a global debut on Sept. 8.
