Mexico will try to keep its current unbeaten run in the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship when it faces Uruguay on September 4 during the final day of Group A preliminary round competitions at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.
The Mexicans were undefeated in their first two games of the tourney with a rout over the Dominican Republic, 84-66, on opening day followed by a surprisingly close 66-58 win over Brazil on Wednesday.
Reigning tournament MVP Gustavo Ayon was unstoppable against the Brazilians, finishing with 27 points and 13 rebounds on 12-of-19 (63 percent) field goal shooting, as per the FIBA Americas Championship's official website. Point guard Jorge Gutierrez backed him up with 14 markers and four assists.
Sergio Valdeolmillos' boys will play Panama on Thursday before this fourth game matchup with Uruguay on Friday.
Uruguay is 1-1 so far after dominating Brazil in their opener, 71-57, but dropping a 78-71 match versus Panama in their second game.
The most consistent player in Uruguayan coach Adrián Capelli's lineup is his starting point guard, Bruno Fitipaldo, who had 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists in their opener then had an 18-2-3 tally in their game against Panama, via FIBA Live Stats.
The team will square off with the Dominican Republic this Thursday after taking the previous day off.
