"The Blacklist" season 3 will see Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) and Raymond "Red" Reddington being hunted down by agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) when the series comes back in October.
Liz is on the run with Reddington making her the top on the FBI's most wanted list of criminals. Movie Pilot outlined some events that occurred in season 2 finale, giving a hint about what may happen in the upcoming season.
First, Liz's name is marred by Cabal for killing Senator Hawkins. Then, Liz shot Attorney General Tom Connolly leaving her with no option but to run away with Reddington.
The latest trailer shows Liz and Red on the run as Ressler hunts them down. In the promo, fans meet a different look of Liz as she sports a Blonde look and Red is perceived taking down a notorious blacklister.
In an interview with TVLine, executive producer John Eisendrath teased that the third installment will "still be delivering blacklisters." Furthermore, he said that although the series will stay focused to its procedural roots, the show "will have a different feel."
Concerning Ressler's mission to hunt down his former colleague, the executive producer said that it will cause much tension among people on the task force. Each member of the task force has a different perspective about the value of arresting Liz.
Eisendrath said, "Ressler is a dogged, by-the-book guy who is going to bring (Liz and Red) in."
The task force seems to have found new channels for Liz and Red to convince the FBI that the only way of finding them is to help them in tracking down a certain blacklister, which may help exonerate Liz.
Creator Jon Bokenkamp added that season 3 is not a total recreation of the show, but a great shot of adrenaline. He said, "There's a real energy and urgency, and it comes from an organic place."
"The Blacklist" season 3 debuts on Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. CT on NBC.
