Naughty Dog may be working on "The Last of Us 2" to the delight of fans who want to know what happens next to Joel and Ellie. Some, however, had mixed reactions to the alleged sequel thinking that the game already served its purpose.
According to Game Rant, Nolan North, who voiced Nathan Drake in the "Uncharted" series confirmed that the company was working on the sequel.
The publication recounted that in a recent Q&A panel at MetroCon in Tampa, a fan asked if he would be working with Naughty Dog after the success of "Uncharted 4." North explained that it would be the last time he will be working with the company.
"I know they're doing a 'Last of Us 2,'" he added.
The outlet speculated that Naughty Dog has discussed the project to North even if his character did not survive the first game. It was earlier reported that the production for the sequel has taken a backseat to focus on "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
Although details of the sequel remain scarce, some fans have started to wonder if it would be a good idea to bring back Joel and Ellie. Kenny McDonnell of Movie Pilot pointed out that having the two characters return would only "disrupt the balance of the first game."
The author pointed out that Naughty Dog had succeeded when they left fans with an open-ended conclusion, leaving fans to imagine what will happen next to the characters. McDonnell pointed out that if the "Last of Us 2" would pick up exactly where Joel and Ellie's story left of it would only "undermine" the narrative of the first game.
