"Dance Moms" star Maddie Ziegler will star in Sia's upcoming movie, "Sister."
The 12-year-old reality TV star will play the lead role in her good friend's screenplay.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sia revealed how she decided to come up with a movie.
The "Elastic Heart" singer said that she was not very confident with her directorial skills at first. However, when she was her music video for "Chandelier," she realized that she was good at it after all.
"I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I wanted to make a movie, because I thought it would be seen as a vanity project, because I'm a singer... and then last year I made the 'Chandelier' video and I realized that I was pretty good at directing, so I felt a little bit braver," she said.
With this, Sia has tapped a handful of people to help her with the script and the movie itself.
As of late, Sia has already sought help from children's book author Dallas Clayton.
"He and I spent three and a half weeks just on the sofa, mapping it out," Sia said.
Meanwhile, Sia's decision to tap Ziegler did not come as a surprise to fans. In the past, the duo has collaborated on three of Sia's music videos, namely, "Chandelier," "Elastic Heart" and "Big Girls Cry."
According to Design N Trend, Ziegler and Sia have remained close even after they finished filming the three music videos. Sometimes, the former also visits the latter at home.
