"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" is set to hit theatres on Nov. 20. Before the highly anticipated release date, fans of Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne) are already on the edge eager to find out what will happen in the finale.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Fandango's Tara McNamara predicted that the movie adaptation of Suzane Collins best selling novel will rake in half a billion dollars in the US alone.
When the first part of the finale aired November last year, it earned $158 million in its opening weekend. By the end of the screening it took home $752 million in the worldwide box office.
The film earning a half a billion in its US screening did not come as a surprise given that it was reportedly the most anticipated movie this fall. Fandango reportedly surveyed 1,000 moviegoers on the films they are most excited to see between September and November.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" gained 36% of the votes. "Spectre" and "The Martian" got the second and third spot with 26% and 11%, respectively.
It was said that the "Hunger Game" franchise has always been part of the highly anticipated movies, even topping the list last year and in 2012 when the first "Hunger Games" movie was released.
In spite of the hype, the viewers reportedly believed that none of the actors will be getting an Oscar nomination. They predicted that it would go to Johnny Depp ("Black Mass) and Julia Roberts ("Secret in Their Eyes").
According to Variety, however, the poll excluded another blockbuster "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which is set to premiere in December.
