"New Girl" season 5 will feature Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hanna Simone) planning their wedding, and then getting married.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series creator Liz Meriweather revealed that Schmidt will be more concerned with having a perfect wedding.
"We also really love Schmidt and Cece together. They're funny. It felt like a way of generating story and comedy. Schmidt, in our idea for the season, becomes obsessed with the wedding planning, in a way that, stereotypically, a woman would. He is very focused on throwing the best wedding of all time," she said.
Meanwhile, Cece's parents will also appear in the upcoming fifth season of "New Girl."
According to Christian Post, both Schmidt and Cece's respective mothers will make their wedding planning and lives a little bit more difficult than usual.
The publication also revealed that Cece's mom will not approve of her daughter's relationship to Schmidt. It is unclear whether or not this will only be Cece's mom's first reaction when she finally meets Schmidt for the first time.
In other news, some episodes of "New Girl" season 5 will not feature lead star Zooey Deschanel because they were filmed while she was still pregnant. In fact, one of her co-stars revealed that they moved the filming to October to accommodate the actress' maternity leave.
Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik had their first child in July 2015.
"New Girl" season 5 will premiere with the episode, "No Girl" on FOX in the next couple of months.
