"Hannibal" showrunner Bryan Fuller is not giving up on the possibility of having a season 4. The executive producer shared that they are still trying to raise enough money to give fans a movie, which would give the series a proper ending it deserved.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Fuller shared that the season 3 finale garnered mixed reactions from fans. He said that some were very content on how they ended the series, while some were still hopeful that there is something more.
Fuller hinted that one or two years from now, they may be able to return and give fans a follow-up, if they remain interested. He added that everyone seemed to be happy with them taking a break from "Hannibal" to explore other opportunities.
The showrunner also hinted that Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will (Hugh Dancy) did more than just hugging in some of the takes for the finale, where the actors actually lip locked.
In an interview with TV Insider, Fuller shared that they actually have a footage of Hannibal and Will getting intimate. He, however, decided against showing it, thinking that they may be "going too far in servicing a faction of the fan community." He explained that by ending it in that note, the authenticity of the characters, as well as their agenda may be lost.
The showrunner, however, teased that they may consider including the shots in the DVD compilation.
When asked if they originally planned on taking Hannibal and Will's relationship to the next level, Fuller explained that it was not originally in the script. He said that it was purely organic to the point that they would look inauthentic if they will not address their growing closeness.
