One of the biggest songs of the year, Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen," just got cheesier with the new version released by the child star George Dalton.
Dalton, who has recently appeared as the Camp Firewood DJ in Netflix's "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp," released a kid-friendly version of the hit single in which he is parodying about baking pies along with his band of girls.
Although the video was released in July, it resurfaced on Sept. 15, Tuesday, thanks to a tweet by comedian Desus Nice of "Guy Code" and "Joking Off" fame.
"Fetty aint lose an eye for this," tweeted the comedian after which the Dalton's video went viral and gained close to 600 thousand views in just a couple of days although Jezebel has dismissed the clip as the worst "Trap Queen" cover.
Despite being a kid video, it is surprisingly not just an ordinary backyard clip. The jazzy styled video boasts of pianos and saxophones, while three girls shack up in the kitchen to make pies jiggling in perfect dance moves.
The lyrics of the hit number are being altered cleverly, like "strip club" becomes "strip mall," "bando" becomes "condo" and "damn pole" is now "hot stove." The clip has surprisingly impressive production value as the 10-year-old tries to look suave at the back seat of a stationary convertible.
While some online users are pretty amused by the daycare-friendly video, others have raised several objections regarding cultural appropriation and sexism, MTV reported. Since the clip shows a black kid sitting in the driver's seat of the convertible, some online commentators were quick to point out racism in the video as it seems that he is pretending to be chauffeuring round other white kids.
