Unlike its previous flagships in the last two years, the Motorola Moto X Play is not the only flagship device for the company this year. In addition, there is the Moto X Style, as well as the Moto X Pure Edition, both of which are higher end devices.
But what makes the Moto X Play features stand out from the sea of high-end and midrange Android devices in the market today?
Given its set of specs, the Moto X Play cannot be placed strictly in one category - high-end or midrange. The phone does have a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, which still qualifies as high-end in some markets. Moreover, the Android smartphone also boasts a 21MP primary camera, a 5MP front shooter, and a whopping 3,630mAh of battery.
In the report by Tech Post, that battery can easily last two days even with moderate to heavy usage.
Unfortunately, as a semi-flagship, Motorola had to make some compromises to keep the price of the Moto X Play down.
The device gets a 2GB RAM, and a midrange Snapdragon 615 chipset with octa-core CPU, four of which are clocked at 1.7GHz and the other four run on 1GHz frequency. There are 16GB and 32GB storage variants, both of which are expandable via the microSD card slot.
In the report, the Motorola X Play costs around $280 in markets where it is already available.
