Apple's 2015 flagship phones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6S and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6S Plus, will hit stores starting on September 25 even as giant telcos T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have reportedly commenced on the early ship outs of the freshly-minted devices.
The synchronized arrival of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus for the markets where they will initially debut is Friday this week but Apple fans who ordered from network service providers are likely to experience the unboxing in advance. The likes of T-Mobile and Verizon have started fulfilling delivery orders, according to Tech Times, adding that Apple is also sending out pre-ordered units.
"Apple, Verizon and T-Mobile have begun processing and shipping the devices," the blog report said.
Ideally, all iPhone 6S and 6S Plus orders will reach buyers on September 25 but as noted by Tech Times, "Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint ... sometimes go rogue and ship several days early." So it's highly likely that a number of Apple fans will get their hands on the new devices ahead of everyone else.
But for the majority of buyers, the fun starts 8AM on Friday - the appointed time that Apple Stores and the iPhone maker's retail partners will open their doors to a flood of excited shoppers. Walk-in purchases will start on the dot on that day, Apple Insider reported, adding that units will continue to sell provided stocks remain available.
"Most Apple stores will also have iPhone available for walk-in customers each day," the report said.
Reservations can be made through Apple.com but buyers are reminded that the availability will depend on the existing inventory of their local Apple Store.
And the current stock number are expected to dwindle quick as Apple has already indicated that the 2016 models are well-positioned to break the 10 million units sold that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus registered during their weekend debut in 2014.
"Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly positive," Apple executive Phil Schiller was reported by Apple Insider as saying.
And likely to disappear real fast is the iOS 9 phablet iPhone 6S Plus, which Tech Times noted is proving to be the more popular variant.
The 6S Plus is also said to be scarce as Apple remains entangled with component and production issues that could delay the next batch of shipments for the supersized iPhone, Apple Insider said.
While regarded as an increment jump from last year, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on release date will impress with fresh specs and features - headlined by the tandem of iOS 9 and A9 processing chip, paired with 2GB of RAM, a touchscreen laced with 3D Touch capability, a 12-megapixel main shooter that can record 4K clips and the always-on Siri digital assistant.
