In a parallel universe where the Sam Bowies and the Greg Odens of the basketball world dominate the game with vicious tenacity and enviable skills, a planet is now reserved to a once-promising player with the same caliber and potential that goes by the name of Anthony Bennett.
The Cleveland Cavaliers' first overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft made waves not by being a highly touted prospect out of his freshman year, nor by standing head and shoulders above opposing big men.
He was a surprise selection - at number one, no less - to say the least.
It's hard to pinpoint what exactly went wrong with Bennett.
Was it his shoulder injury prior to the start of his rookie season?
Was it the team or his coach?
Or maybe, it was his work ethic all along?
Basically, Anthony Bennett got, is getting, and will be getting, the undesirable recognition of a classic draft bust.
Not all is lost, though, as the Minnesota Timberwolves is in the process of buying out his contract, which can now open another door for Bennett to prove his doubters wrong.
Here are some teams that can benefit from an Anthony Bennett:
1.) Memphis Grizzlies - Outside Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, the Memphis Grizzlies has a relatively thin front line with the likes of JaMychal Green, Jarnell Stokes, and newly acquired Brandan Wright. Here, Anthony Bennett can flourish as sort of a Brandon Bass-type and act as a solid backup.
2.) Houston Rockets - The team has a knack of signing either disgruntled players in the same vein as Josh Smith, or aging, often-injured ones such as Jason Terry. Having said that, the Rockets may have enough fuel to resuscitate Bennett's career.
3.) Atlanta Hawks - Under the guidance of head coach, Mike Budenholzer, the former UNLV Runnin' Rebel can thrive in a system that's based on ball movement and proper spacing. Bennett can also pick the brain and mold his game to an All Star forward like Paul Millsap.
4.) Milwaukee Bucks - Milwaukee really looks like a young team that's built to last and can develop together. With Anthony Bennett in the lineup, they'll have a decent backup if and when Jabari Parker continues to play the No.4 position.
5.) Detroit Pistons - Looking past the potential, Anthony Bennett can provide interior toughness and a little versatility on defense. A low risk, high reward type of deal.
