The OnePlus Two is dubbed as a flagship killer, boasting of premium build and specs with solid (read: cheap) price tag, but it turns out that another giant slayer is likely to pop out soon. Early and few details about the OnePlus Mini seem to tout the device as a killer not only of the Google Nexus 2015 phones but also of Android flagships.
Already, a render of the OnePlus Mini is available online and first obtained by Phone Arena, which described the OnePlus Two smaller sibling as slick-looking. True enough, the leaked images showcased a OnePlus Mini with a premium and a stunning design.
The front is easily gorgeous with the side screen bezels practically invisible. What only breaks the nearly clean display panel is the twin openings that likely are sensors - one situated near the top edge of the phone and the other on the bottom edge.
The rear of the render reveals an equally clean back profile, almost as the plate hosts the device's fingerprint reader that sits near at the core of the entire real estate. On its top is what looks like as a dual camera lens aided by LED lamps, also in duo configuration.
Found on the bottom edge of the phone are two stereo blasters that flanked the micro USB port, which likely is of USB Type-C kind. The overall design is obviously motivated by the same purpose of the first two OnePlus handsets - to become flagship killers.
"From where we're standing, the phone looks to have a more rounded profile than we're used to with OnePlus, and appears pretty thin," Phone Arena said. Compared with the likes of the Google Nexus 2015, the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6S, the OnePlus Mini is a device not to be left behind both in beauty and specifications.
And the OnePlus Mini hardware specs are nothing short of impressive, G4Games said in a report. An AnTuTu benchmark report indicated that the third of the OnePlus handsets will wow with a very capable MediaTek Helio X10 chipset in MT6795T variant at 2.2GHz per CPU core with a PowerVR G6200 GPU clocked at 700MHz.
The same AnTuTu document also revealed of a 1080p display resolution, a 13MP main shooter, built-in 32GB of memory and 2GB of RAM that will unpack with the device, which will stand on 64-bit Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
But what will really make the OnePlus Mini a flagship killer on release date, which remains unknown, is the purported price tag. It is likely that the OnePlus Mini will retail at no more than $250 a pop, Phone Arena said.
