Chinese director Zhang Yimou will be honored at the sixth annual U.S.-China Film Summit in Los Angeles on Nov. 5.
The director will receive a special lifetime achievement award at the 2015 edition of the summit, which will gather Hollywood and Chinese film industry leaders.
The event, sponsored by the Asia Society, will present a series of panel discussions about cross-border industry topics, such as the investments of China and Hollywood to each other's market, technological developments, production partnerships, assorted legal and cultural complications, and ancillary market potential.
The summit will be held at the L.A. Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, a venue that has formerly housed the prestigious Oscars.
The event will also honor other individuals and institutions that have helped cultivate Chinese cinema talent during the industry's historic growth. The honorees include the Beijing Film Academy and Le Vision Pictures founder and CEO Zhang Zhao.
Josette Sheeran, Asia Society's president, said that their "honorees reflect film's importance as a cultural, educational and business bridge."
"Asia Society is proud to be recognizing these talents and connecting them with professionals and audiences around the world," Sheeran added.
"It's been a momentous year for Hollywood and China, and our U.S.-China Film Summit once again leads the way in bringing the key players together to discuss the most important issues," the group's chairman Thomas McClain added.
The summit's panelists and other special guests will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
