While Netflix has not officially announced if that there will be season 5 for the western-themed crime drama, "Longmire" yet, season 4 ended with a cliffhanger increasing possibilities of having a fifth installment.
"Longmire" season 4 hit Netflix with 10 episodes on Sept. 10 after a previous release on A&E. Reports show that season 4 almost turned out to be a flop with A&E cancelling the series soon after season 3 episode finale airing in August 2014. Warner Horizon Television solicited for a new network that would show the progression of the plot - according to Craig Johnson's novel "Walt Longmire Mysteries" - and Netflix decided to take up the task, Deadline reported.
Season 4 ended with Mathias (Zahn McClarnon) arresting Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips), and fans are eager to see the destiny of Bear. The love between Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and Vic (Katee Sackhoff) was also left in suspense and viewers need another chance to understand this complicated relationship.
In addition, fans had started enjoying the storyline concerning the new deputy, Zach (Barry Sloane), who seems to have many secrets that should come to surface at some point.
In an interview with Collider, Taylor who plays Longmire and Phillips who plays Henry Standing Bear revealed that "Longmire" season 4 would not wrap things up entirely. Their statement opened possibilities for the fifth season.
After being asked whether season 4 will make the end of the story, Taylor was definitive in his response. He said, "Oh, hell no! We all need a job in season 5. We're not closing anything."
The statement was echoed by Diamond who said, "There are some very dramatic developments in season 4."
However, information on the possible release of season 5 still remains a rumor since Netflix has not offered an official statement of the same.
