Images of the highly anticipated 2016 BMW X4 M40i has been making rounds on the Internet after it was leaked before its official debut. The X4 M40i is believed to rank on top of the X4 lineup. The car is tuned by BMW's in-house M division.
The leak came from the German website Bimmertoday. The website claims that the M40i is powered by a straight-six 3.0-liter engine that takes advantage of two turbochargers. The engine is capable of generating 355 horsepower from 5,800 to 6,000 rpm. The car's torque is believed to be 342 lb-ft from 1,350 rpm to 5,250 rpm.
According to BMW Blog, the BMW X4 M40i will sport an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car is also available on four-wheel drive.
The 2016 BMW X4 M40i can accelerate from zero to 6mpg in just 4.9 seconds. That is half a second faster compared to the X4 35i which is just a notch down in the X4 lineup. The X4 M40i's top speed is electronically limited to 155mph.
On the aesthetic side, the BMW X4 M40i sports a more aggressive looking body kit highlighter by four air dams, a new rear bumper with two round exhaust outlets. The car also have an M-designed three spokes steering wheel and new sill plates. It also sports a 19-inch alloy wheel with low profile tires and several M emblems.
According to Left Lane News, BMW is planning to unveil the 2016 X4 M40i at the Los Angeles Motor Show. Experts on the matter believe that the car will be released sometime in 2017.
