Logitech's new Circle portable home security camera is a basic round device that works with smartphones running on iPhone and Android platforms. The wireless gadget is roughly the size of a tennis ball. Its features include motion detection, night vision, "learning" normal house activities, and compiling highlighted short clips.
Logi's Circle has many features of a basic home security camera. Its mobile app streams high definition (HD) video to a smartphone running Google's and Apple's operating systems.
Circle also includes a two-way talk system. It allows users to speak and hear through the camera.
The camera sends push notifications when its sensors detect motion. It also shows footage that users missed during the past day.
Another big benefit of Circle is being portable. It can stream video for three hours, and a single charge can last 12 hours in its power-saving mode, according to The Verge. The unit is charged in a magnetic charging holster.
Logitech Circle's forte is its software, and especially its motion detection that includes "scene intuition" tech. It filters video footage highlights and notifications.
The feature uses artificial intelligence (AI) to learn common movements in the user's home, and separates them from red flagged clips. The latter's timestamps are highlighted in blue.
Another of Logi Circle's key features is Day Brief, a compilation of the day's most important short clips that is sped up into a 30-second review, according to Engadget. There is no need to scroll timelines and load clips.
However, Circle's software is also missing some key security camera features. They include temperature monitoring and facial recognition.
Circle is the Logi company's second product after its summer rebranding. It follows a set of durable iPad cases.
Logitech was founded in October 1981. The Swiss company's products include keyboards, mice, trackballs, headphones, speakers, and webcams.
