It's a sad fact that there are still remote areas in the U.S. that uses dial-up services until now due to lack of faster internet networks that telecom companies should be offering. It is said that major telecom and cable companies doesn't want to shell out and spend some cash to build the necessary network that can offer faster speeds to many Americans in the rural remote areas.
Since the competition between major telecom companies is still tight and tremendous, AT&T is said to be testing a new technology to win this Telecom war.
According to Fierce Wireless, the multinational telecommunications corporation AT&T is testing a fixed wireless local loop that can deliver speeds ranging from 15Mbps to 25Mbps. The said technology from AT&T is only being offered to selected areas such in Alabama, Kansan, Georgia and Virginia.
Yahoo noted that the said service, which is dubbed to be the first real high-speed internet offering, will offer at least 10Mbps Download and at least 1Mbps Upload to more than 10 Million Americans.
Meanwhile, speculations arise that the only reason behind this AT&T move is for the approval of their merger to DirecTV. It can be noted that AT&T promised to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that the Texas-based Telco company will offer low income discount program plus broadband services with a speed higher than 3Mbps to qualified consumers.
At this time, not much detail was provided regarding the tests that they are doing on their Fixed Wireless Local Loop.
On other AT&T news, there had been numerous AT&T subscribers who reportedly experiencing issues with downloading and music streaming over LTE connection. According to the reports, only iPhone users are extremely affected with the issue. It is said that iPhone users are able to download and stream when using WiFi but not through LTE. Though the issue had begun a couple of days already, it is said that AT&T is now trying to fix the issue, as some users already reported that they are able to intermittently download and stream music via LTE.
