China has once again denounced Japan for attempting to claim the Diaoyu Islands. China's remarks follow Japan's unveiling of plans to revise its middle and high school textbooks.

The Diaoyu Islands, which have been the subject of continuing disputes between the two countries, will appear as part of Japan's existing territories in the revised textbooks.

According to Hua Chunying, Spokeswoman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, the position that China maintains on the disputed Diaoyu Islands is clear and consistent: the islands belong to China.  Japan's previous attempts to steal the islands from China are likewise clear.

The bottom line of Japan's statements and actions on the Diaoyu Islands is seen as an attempt to change history by denying its defeat in the Second World War, disregarding the international order given after the war, and challenging the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, she added.

No matter how Japan's side attempts to assert its claim on Diaoyu Islands, Japan cannot alter the fundamental fact that the islands are inherently part of China's territory, according to the ministry spokeswoman.  She also said that China is advising Japan not to belittle China's firm resolve and determination to safeguard its dominion.

If Japan attempts to escalate its provocations on the disputed territory, China will strongly respond to the provocations and Japan will suffer its consequences, the spokeswoman declared.  History should not be forgotten, according to her.

Some Japanese can attempt provocations and deny history, but they will not get away from China's judgment. Instead, they will be weighed down by increasingly heavier and heavier burdens. The ministry spokeswoman urged Japan to accept history and rectify its mistakes with the right actions.
