"Fresh Prince Of Bell Air" star Will Smith returned to his musical roots recently when he released his first rap recording in more than ten years in a collaborative attempt with Colombian band Bomba Esterero.
The Colombian band's song "Fiesta" features Smith, who interjects with a brief mishmash of Spanish and English, according to AFP.
Smith has previously voiced admiration for the band that uses electronic dance beats to liven very typical traditional Colombian music.The band's founder Simon Mejia, commenting on Smith's contribution to the song, told the news agency the rapper-actor had proved to be "beyond anything we have dreamed of."
"We all had a blast together at the video shoot," Daily Mail quoted the Colombian singer as saying. "And we want to thank Will for being so warm and such a pleasure to work with and for rapping in Spanish."
Mejia was surprised that Smith was interested in collaborating. He said, "When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn't believe it."
With the original track already having a video, a second video for the remix featuring Smith was recently shot in Los Angeles and is set to be released soon. The song "Fiesta" has been nominated for two Latin Grammys.
Meanwhile, in the midst of promoting his last film "Focus" earlier this year in London, Smith hinted that he was considering a return to music, while adding that he had been working with Kanye West and was considering a comeback.
The "Independence Day" actor will next be seen on screen in "Concussion," a drama based on true life events surrounding the football industry.
