Lady Gaga felt elated landing the role of a vampire addicted to couture, Countess Elizabeth, in the new season of the American horror anthology TV series, "American Horror Story: Hotel." The role, she said, made her feel alive.
During filming, Gaga excitedly made a shout-out to her mom via Twitter that she is an actress, adding "scripts, 12 cigarettes and 50 cups of coffee" to the caption. The "Bad Romance" singer also posted several photos on her Instagram account related to her bloodthirsty Countess character.
The singer-turned-actress also tweeted how thrilled she was about attending her first premiere and how she felt honored to work with talented cast members.
Gaga portrays the rich and seductive social doyenne who owns Hotel Cortez. She wears designer finery, exudes a haunting aura, and shares screen time with cast members with the likes of Kathy Bates, Matt Bomer, and Angela Bassett.
Gaga also praised series creator Ryan Murphy for his vision, Entertainment Weekly reported. The pop star embraced her creepy new role for the small screen, which seemed tailor fitted for her.
Sex and gore were amped up, and even the visuals from the trailer, shown before the L.A. Live premiere of the new season-opener, generated much attention.
Avid fans of Gaga, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in real life, may find some similarities between some of the famous singer's music videos, and the "American Horror Story: Hotel" trailer, with its penetrating music, rapid cuts, color contrast, and the elegant, costumed star at the center of it all.
Gaga is well-known in many parts of the world for her outlandish costumes and tendencies to stray from the norm. For the fifth season of the FX series, the mega famous singer was dressed up in lots of vintage couture.
Beyond the costume changes, many of them retro Hollywood glamour, Gaga blew away her director and co-stars with her gung-ho attitude and readiness to do more explicit things than what was written in the script, Harper's Bazaar reported.
Indeed, Gaga proved to be quite an eye-riveting and lively addition to the cast. Her television project is a fulfilment of her aspirations to act, dating way back to her high school years, when she had the chance to play lead roles in musicals.
Like most of the go-getting musical artist's public appearances where she gave her best efforts, "American Horror Story: Hotel" promises to be a 13-episode series that will entertain and astound.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres Oct. 7 on FX.
