Suspect Shao Zongqi is now in the process of being charged for the shootings, the police said. Mainland media reports say police arrested Shao at his aunt's house in Hoqiao on Feb. 3, and confiscated a weapon believed to have been used in the mass killing.

Based on initial police reports, the suspect fired a semi-automatic rifle at nine people in the afternoon of Jan. 30 in Hoqiao, Yunnan.  Five were killed on the spot, one died while being treated at a hospital and three others were injured.

Victims of the shooting are said to be relatives of Shao. According to reports, after discovering that his wife was having an affair with two of his male relatives, Shao became unstable and sought revenge.
