China: A picture and video had been released on the Chinese defense ministry website that shows two Japanese F-15 aircraft following a Chinese aircraft, TU-154 and coming to 100 feet(30 metres), when the aircraft was performing a routine patrol mission in the East China Sea.
Denying the allegation, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said:
"We believe there is no truth in China's assertions that Japanese fighter planes came within 30m of a Chinese plane and severely affected the flight's safety,"
"The aeroplanes [in the video] are different," and demanded Beijing removed the videos.
The Chinese ministry of defense went further to reveal what really happened.
On the 11th of June 2014. Two aircraft, YS 11-EB and OP-3 of the Japanese self-defense forces had conducted reconnaissance in the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone. And according to regulations, the Chinese air defense had deployed two fighter aircraft to verify and make proper identification of the Japanese aircraft. But unlike the unprofessional act displayed by the Japanese aircraft, the Chinese aircraft was 150 metres away showing professionalism and standard restraint.
Disputed Isand
The cat and mouse game played by both countries is as a result of an island that both countries claims belongs to them. While the Chinese called the island Diaoyu, the Japanese call the same island Senkaku. On May 24, the Japanese had accused the Chinese of flying its aircraft a few dozen metres away from its warplanes. It would be recalled that China declared an air defense zone covering most of the East China Sea despite protest from Japan and USA.
Truth Or Dare?
Japan scrambled fighter jets up to 415 times in the year ended in March. It also monitors and interferes with the Chinese warships and military aircraft which endangers the Chinese personnel's. Beijing makes it clear to Japan of its hypocrisy, and should stop demonizing China and labeling the country as the one threatening the region.Chinese side reserves the rights to take further steps if the Japanese side does not clarify issues with China and the International community.
