Floyd Mayweather has tied the best record in boxing and he claims to be the best boxer ever.

However, not too many experts agree with him. Larry Merchant, esteemed boxing announcer and fight analyst, gave Money some worthy accolades, but reserved the distinction for someone else.

Speaking to The News Hub, Merchant made his choice comments. There would be some who would claim Merchant would be biased because he had a notorious altercation with Money, but he brushed that aside.

"You know I don't do that, I think Floyd is one of the best fighters of his time and that's all you can really know about a fighter," Merchant declared. "People have asked me this question a lot and I say, well I think Floyd is the best pure boxer of his time and Pacquiao is the best fighter."

Merchant also had some intriguing thoughts on whether we have seen the last of Floyd Mayweather.

"I think the general feeling is that he'll try to come out and win his 50th if somebody emerges who can generate a third as much as the last fight" said Merchant. "Maybe it's Pacquiao if he can go out and beat somebody really good or maybes its somebody who goes out and beats Pacquiao really good. Personally I'd love to see Crawford fight him but Crawford is not as well known as say Amir Khan or Pacquiao. But if somebody emerges I guess the conventional wisdom is yes Mayweather will give it a go for a 9 figure pay day."

The idea of a rematch might not be baseless and Merchant's comments would add fuel to the fire. Manny Pacquiao himself has confirmed that there are negotiations taking place
