"The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Malarkey recently opened up about his character Enzo's decision to choose Lily (Annie Wersching) and the Heretics over Caroline (Candice Accola).
In an interview with Hollywood Life, Malarkey said that there's more to Enzo in season 7 than just choosing between Caroline or Lily.
"He feels like all the stuff he does, no one looks at him and is like, 'Oh I see why you did that.' Everyone looks at him and is like, 'Oh, c'mon Enzo,' or 'Why'd you do that?' He feels like no one respects him for him or his choices, so I think that's a huge part of it," he said.
Meanwhile, Malarkey explained that one of the ways that Enzo believe he will gain respect is if he starts building family ties. This is also the very reason why his character chose Lily over Caroline.
However, the actor clarified that Enzo may just be testing the waters with Lily and the Heretics. He said that his character wants to see if he will get the respect that he thinks he deserves from them.
In other news, fans can also expect Enzo to find love in season 7. Even though he cannot divulge which character he will have feelings for, Malarkey said that fans will be pretty shocked when they find out.
"All I'll tell you is that there was immediate chemistry. I know that those scenes that we already shot together will be f*cking amazing," he said.
