Director Joss Whedon has shocked the audience with his revelation on how much he got from his Marvel Comics film "The Avengers."
On Oct. 10, Joss Whedon said during the question and answer session after the screening of the 45-minute "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" tuner that he had made more money from his individually funded 2008 Internet musical as compared to what he had got from penning and helming Marvel's "The Avengers," as per Variety.
According to the publication, Whedon's revelation had made jaws fall. It was because his film "The Avengers" had made more than $623 million in the United States alone. The film also had an estimated foreign gross of $896 million in other countries, for a total gross of $1.5 billion in a global scale.
While "The Avengers" had Whedon's name in its credits, it was still a Marvel film, as per Cinema Blend. The publication added that with that fact, it was assumed that a large portion of the film's gross would mainly go back to Marvel's treasure chest.
Meanwhile, "Dr. Horrible Sing-Along" is a musical about the titular supervillain. It starred Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion, among others, and they played a part in the reunion that commenced in Paleyfest NY at the Paley Center for Media. Also, "Dr. Horrible" was released through iTunes and Hulu in three acts in three nights in July 2008.
Following Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which has an international gross of $1.4 billion after its release on May 1, the Earth's Mightiest Heroes are set to be seen next in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's forthcoming Marvel Comics film "Captain America: Civil War," which follows the superheroes' future after the government's release of the "Accords," which will limit superheroes from using their extraordinary powers.
Captain America is set to team up with The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Falcon, Agent 13, and Ant-Man. They will oppose Iron Man's team, which reportedly includes Black Widow, War Machine, The Vision, and Black Panther. Spider-Man is also set to appear in the film; however, no information yet as to which side he is in. Meanwhile, the Wasp's inclusion in the film is yet to be revealed.
The Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 6, 2016.
