Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed the government's willingness to learn more about other countries and promote mutual exchanges that will help the country be more open to the world. 

During a Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia held in Shanghai in May, President Xi remarked that China is open to foreign countries to share and exchange thoughts with one another.

The Chinese leader also stressed that solving the world's problem will need mutual cooperation and understanding among different countries.

The conference was attended by 50 experts from 22 countries, including representatives from Shanghai's universities, research facilities and businesses.

Among the attendees included British physicist and Nobel laureate Anthony Leggett, Dutch education and culture expert Annette Nijs, head of Institut Pastur of Shanghai German national Ralf Altmeyer, aeronautical engineering expert Patrick Power and U.S. financial expert Gregory Gibb.

President Xi noted that the conference helped China in improving their opening up policy by implementing the suggestions and new ideas of the experts who have brought their advanced technology and management expertise.

"A country with close-minded people cannot implement an opening up policy," President Xi added. He said that opening the people's "vision, thinking, knowledge and technology" will be essential for the policy to succeed.

Foreign delegates were pleased to hear from the Chinese leader that the country is keeping an open mind. They promised to help in promoting China in their respective countries.

As reported by CCTV, China's economy has been growing fast since the past three decades. Improving the country's technology will help maintain its status in the world's fast-changing market.

China also believed that, through an open talent policy, developing local talents and bringing high-level foreign talents will help strengthen China's economy.
