Rockstar has confirmed that release date of the GTA 5 Lowrider DLC is indeed October 20 and gamers on the PS4, the Xbox One and PCs are bound to get a taste of the Lamar missions, lowrider cars and other added features. A new report, however, labelled the latest GTA content dispatch as a little underwhelming.
True, the expectations were mostly met - new challenges, the ability to purchase new property to accommodate a player's growing fleet of cars and the host of tinkering that can be done on already customized rides - but according to iDigitalTimes, the Lowrider DLC is far from a game-changer.
"The most ambitious update by Rockstar still goes to the remarkable multiplayer co-op GTA Heists DLC," the report said.
The Lowrider update, for one, is not an across-the-board bump as Rockstar has specified that only present-gen consoles and platform will get the update, likely due to hardware limitations. Easily that would make the Heist DLC as the better content update for GTA 5 gamers.
Designing the Heist DLC to run on both the PS3 and PS4, for instance, is a remarkable feat even as the latter came with insufficient RAM provision, the report said. But it is understandable that not everything can be delivered in a single salvo though iDigitalTimes is reckoning that Rockstar is working on something bigger than both the Lowrider DLC and Heist DLC combined.
"We would definitely want to see Rockstar finish GTA 5 DLCs with a bang and really deliver a groundbreaking update that could potentially transform the gaming industry," the report said.
So it's only safe to assume that the next GTA update package that Rockstar will deploy is "literally game changing."
Subscribing to this belief is not impossible as the game creator has already allowed that GTA will be around much longer than anyone can imagine. "It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality," the report quoted Rockstar as saying.
Reading between the lines, Rockstar has bigger plans for its GTA franchise and it is likely that the next big thing for the game title is a planned GTA 5 DLC release that will overwhelm both the Heist DLC and Lowrider DLC. Now that is not expecting too much.
