The Google-owned map and traffic navigation app Waze recently received a major overhaul. The overhaul upgrade Waze's user interface design and now feature a quicker access to useful actions.

According to Engadget, with just a single tap, users can now send locations, directions and estimated time of arrival to their contacts. The single tap action also allow users to get traffic-based reminders, provided that users' calendar is synced with Waze. Perhaps the biggest upgrade on the new version of the app is it now consumes less battery compared to the older version.

The new update on the user interface of the Waze app makes it more structured compared to the older version which many users described as a mess. The latest upgrade all make the alert feature to be more prominent.

The new version of Waze also relocated the car icon into the bottom left of the screen. This makes it easier for users to participate in the Waze community even if they only use one hand. When the car icon is tapped, it gives user access to the menu and other settings of the app.

Additionally, the upgraded version of Waze now has a quick access button indicated by a mail envelope icon. The new feature allow users to share directions, locations and estimated arrival time to their contacts with just a tap, according to Tech Crunch.

Waze can be downloaded for free on both the Android and iOS platform. However, the latest update will be available for iOS users in the meantime. The update will roll out to Android users very soon, the company promises.
