The 3D film "Doraemon: Stand by Me" is scheduled to hit China this 2015 after its massive reception in Japan this summer.
Doraemon is a manga series created by Fujiko Fujio, the pseudonym of the tandem known as Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko. The partnership is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.
The 3D film of the Japanese manga and cartoon hit took over the Japanese box office since its August 8 release. It has now earned more than $73.4 million. The movie, directed by Takashi Yamazaki and Ryuichi Yagi, is the first 3D version of Doraemon.
The movie has already reached 57 regions and countries around the world. In 2015, France and China will be added to the list.
To cater to more fans, Bang Zoom! Entertainment has also released an English-dubbed version on Oct. 24 at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
"Doraemon: Stand by Me" centers on Doraemon and Nobita's friendship, from their first encounter to their last goodbye to each other. Of course, the antics of Suneo, Gian and Jaiko will be present. The movie will also show Shizuka and Nobita together with their son, Nobisuke.
To the '80s and '90s generation of China, Doraemon is a very familiar character. Often referred to as "chubby blue" in China, he is a lovable cat robot who pulls out hundreds of cool gadgets from his pocket.
The success of Doraemon in Japan has conceived over 50 feature films and short films involving the characters in various perilous situations.
