The season has yet to start but the business of predicting possible trades never really had an offseason.
Simply because this is the reality of the NBA: even the most successful dynasties may crumble or break apart. Michael Jordan's Bulls, Shaq and Kobe, the Miami Heat Big Three.
Los Angeles Clippers team president/head coach Doc Rivers is no stranger to this reality, as the main pieces of his 2008 Celtics Champion team have either retired (Ray Allen) or have gone West (KG, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, himself).
Yes, the Clippers went all in to bring back DeAndre Jordan. That was an amazing display of teamwork-rushing to Texas, engaging in an emoji war-to win back DeAndre Jordan. However, the stern reality is that no one is indispensable and no team is set in stone to stay together, especially without a ring to bind them.
In an article by Zach Lowe in Grantland, Doc Rivers was quoted: "I have no problem saying that. I'm a believer that teams can get stale. After a while, you don't win. It just doesn't work. We're right at the edge. Oklahoma City is on the edge. Memphis, too. We just have to accept it."
This is why Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report believes that DeAndre Jordan, the glittering prize of the offseason, may be on the trading block later in the season. In the video, Bucher predicted that there won't necessarily be a shift with the Clippers and the problems that drove DJ to initially choose Dallas will persist.
"What did they solve?" asked Bucher. "Yes, he will get paid, but will he be an All-Star, is he gonna be happy with his role? They did just enough to bring him back."
Bucher also pointed out how the Clippers, considering that they have a very formidable "Big Three" of CP3, Blake and DJ who are all at the top three of their positions, are not exactly a great fit. Despite having three prized pieces, they just can't make it work.
Considering Doc Rivers' statement, it is not something to rule out and Bucher said that if the right trade piece/s were offered, the Clippers would pull the trigger.
