The year 1970s witnessed the development of "SS7," a signal protocol that was aimed towards setting phone calls. Ciarin Bradley, who works as the Chief product officer of AdaptiveMobile, has put forward the fact that more people use SS7 technology to make phone calls, but seldom people have heard about it.
According to Tech News World, SS7 technology works in the background every time a person initiates a phone call or switch from one location to another. In a statement released by AdaptiveMobile, the team put forward the fact that there can be significant damages caused if a compromise on SS7 technology is initiated.
When SS7 was introduced, only few telecommunication companies has access to it, but with growth in technology now, there are more than 800 million mobile carriers working by employing the same technology.
Meanwhile, others have recently found that the same communication SS7 Technology can be used to identify call's location. Access to SS7 and a mobile number will make it pretty easier to track down all the details of anyone around the world. Also, researchers have put forward the fact on how SS7 can be used to initiate text messages by using the same technology, Techxina reported.
The latest fix on the issue brought out by Adobe is not promising, and Westin has put forward the suggestion that in five years down the line, Flash player might not be in use at all. Release and use of certificates without actually proper review is becoming common, and measures need to be ensured to address the issue.
