Fans of the post-apocalyptic role-playing Fallout games can soon take a break with a real-life Nuka-Cola Quantum drink, due to a cross-brand promo that involves its developer Bethesda Studios, soft drink manufacturer Jones Soda Company, and Target Corporation stores throughout the United States. Nuka-Cola caps function as currency in the Fallout video game series, but Quantum is a rare and addictive variety that gets a bright-blue glow from its secret ingredient: radioactive strontium.
Nuka-Cola Quantum is a newer version of the beverage in the series. It was featured in Fallout 3 (2008) and Fallout: New Vegas (2010).
The real Nuka-Cola Quantum available on retail store shelves will be a rebranded variety of Jones Soda's Berry Lemonade Flavor, according to The Verge. It will be a Fallout 4 tie-in.
Jones Soda was founded in 1987, and is founded in Seattle, Washington. The company has become eminent for its unusual flavors that other soft drink makers do not offer, including Bacon, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Candy Corn, Pineapple Upside-Down, and Bug Juice.
Details about the drink's pricing and specific availability have not been announced. Fallout Beer is another tie-in product that will hit stores on November 5, but will only be available in the United Kingdom, according to Modern Readers.
Bethesda's release of the spin-off game Fallout Shelter for iOS in June of this year and for Android in August, was the first title in the series since 2010. This has helped to drive demand for Fallout 4.
The original Fallout was released in September 1997. Fallout 4's scheduled release date is November 10.
