Nicki Minaj has become the recent target of an online backlash when she posted a seemingly controversial video of mocking a disabled person during the Halloween party held at 1Oak, Las Vegas on Oct. 30, Friday.
Sporting an eye-popping, bust-baring fairy dress, the rapper can be seen a waving a magic wand towards a wheelchair-bound person and laughing hysterically while commanding her to "walk."
"Now if only I could find Handi-Man," Minaj said in the video, apparently joking about Damon Wayans' handicapped-superhero character in the '90s TV show "In Living Color."
The fans were outraged at the insensitivity of the rapper towards the disabled people. The video is said to be filmed at the backstage of the Halloween party hosted by the rapper, Daily Mail reported.
The "Anaconda" hit maker later clarified that the wheelchair-bound person is not disabled, but her close friend with whom she was just playing around. Some fans were even quick to point out that the woman in the wheelchair was actually Sheika Daley, Minaj's makeup artist, Page Six reported.
However, online commentators continued to slam Minaj for posting an outrageously insensitive remark which seemed to make fun of disabled people.
"I'm PARALYZED!..And I can assure you I'm offended," an internet user commented.
After experiencing the extreme backlash, the Instagram post has since been deleted, but many fans were able to capture the screenshot and share it online.
Earlier Minaj showed a sensitive side when she slammed a viral Bill Cosby Halloween costume showing a man dressed as Cosby holding a blonde woman who appeared to be under influence of an alcoholic beverage in her hand.
"Our generation is so desensitized," wrote the 32-year-old to caption the pic.
