China will be strictly following international law for space and is currently drafting its own space laws to be introduced by 2020, according to the China National Space Administration. 

Director Xu Dazhe of the CNSA said that China already has its own regulations and laws with regards to civil space launches, space debris prevention and reduction, and space objects registration ready for the Workshop on Space Law in Beijing. The event, which started on Nov. 17 and will conclude on Nov. 21, will aim to promote complete understanding, implementation and acceptance of space laws under the United Nations treaties.

CNSA secretary-general Tian Yulong said that China is really planning to make space laws as it is already a part of the country's legislation plan. He also said that the CNSA is already making progress on the laws.

United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs director Simonetta Di Pippo said that the space law workshop will significantly aid countries in understanding and abiding by the international space law, optimizing the utilization of outer space and making space safety a priority.

According to Simonetta, the workshop will explain space law and regulations development. It will also cover commercial space activities, space capacity data and national space legislation promotion.

The workshop was organized cooperatively by the CNSA, the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization and the UN-OOSA. Experts from over 30 countries and global institutions will be attending the said workshop.

In addition to making space-related legislation, China also revealed its plans for space exploration during a spacecraft convention in Zhuhai where a model of the Chinese Mars rover went on display.
