The rape allegations against Bill Cosby have bore fruit. NBC confirmed that because of the current controversy involving the legendary comedian, it would have to stop the development of an already planned sitcom where the actor has a huge role.
According to HuffPost Entertainment, the network confirmed that it has already pulled the plug on the current project involving Bill Cosby. A representative of the actor is yet to make an official statement regarding the matter.
Aside from NBC, Netflix has already announced that it would postpone the release of Cosby's supposedly upcoming special, "Bill Cosby 77."
TV Land had also halted all the reruns of "The Cosby Show" from its schedules.
The NBC series involving Cosby would have been a great project. It was first announced in January, wherein Deadline.com said the show would revolve primarily around Cosby. His role would not be that different from his usually family-oriented shows where he plays the father.
According to NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke, "Bill plays the patriarch of the family, dispensing his classic wisdom on relationships and parenthood, with three daughters, husbands, and grandchildren." Unfortunately, fans would not be able to see this project materialize anymore.
Cosby has remained silent throughout his current ordeal, where several women renewed their sexual assault claims. Supermodel Janice Dickinson herself just confessed that she, too, was raped by the legendary comedian back in 1982.
Cosby was supposed to appear on talk shows of Queen Latifah and David Letterman, but all of these were also cancelled.
The actor did appear on NPR's Weekend Edition on Saturday, but preferred to keep mum when asked about the rape allegations. A lawyer representing the actor, however, had posted on the comedian's website saying that the actor would never dignify these accusations with a response and that he is very grateful for the fans who are still supporting him.
