"Switched at Birth" season 5 could crossover with the second half of "The Fosters" season 3.
According to Cartermatt, both ABC Family shows follow a similar plot, and this is why it's not difficult to mix-and-match certain characters.
"Switched at Birth" tells the story of two young girls who were switched during their birth.
They both grew up in the wrong family, but when they discovered what really happened they didn't have such a hard time accepting their real families into their lives.
In fact, both families even decided to live close to each other, and have become extremely close.
Meanwhile, "The Fosters" focuses on the lives of two orphans who cannot seem to find a permanent home.
Luckily, when they got matched with the Foster family, Callie and her brother Jude didn't have a hard time fitting in.
However, both ABC Family shows also feature hang-ups and issues that all of these characters, as well as their families face.
With this, there are rumors that a crossover will not only be ideal for the show, it will also good for boosting the show's ratings.
As of late, ABC Family has not yet commented regarding the issue. Truth be told, it seems that a crossover wouldn't also happen anytime soon because the scripts for the upcoming episodes may have already been written.
Still, fans are looking forward to seeing how creative the writers of the show could go especially now that both shows have been renewed for a new season.
"Switched at Birth" season 5 and "The Fosters" season 3 will both premiere on ABC Family this January.
