For the very first time in history, "South Park" is developing a new season around a central story and theme.
The 19th season of "South Park" is the latest season and has embraced serialization. The show has dabbled with extended story arcs in the past as reported by News Uno. Furthermore, "South Park" has taken on political correctness hence opening doors to a little self-examination. This season will weave a handful of big story threads throughout several episodes.
Additionally, "South Park" has struck a satirical, masterstroke due to its employment of one creative choice. A new character named "PC Principal" has been introduced at the center of season 19's story to replace Principal Victoria. The implication of all the scenarios in this season is clear.
According to Vox, "PC Principal" is a muscular, tall dude in Oakley glasses who gives orders into microphones and diminishes all occurring problems. He is followed into "South Park" by lots of other guys who only care about social justice matters only.
This ongoing storyline in "South Park" simply tries to explain who's on PC principal's side and who's not. The implication of this scenario is also clear as it attempts to create the world with no victims falling for political incorrectness.
Generally, this set-up is canny but it has earned "South Park" massive amounts of praise. For instance, Entertainment Weekly has named season 19 as the best show in a decade. Moreover, Indie Wire is also applauding the season's whole new level of contemporary commentary.
