"Bones" may just be cancelled after season 11 if actor David Boreanaz (Seeley Booth) is to be believed. Showrunner Michael Peterson believed that they could go on for season 12, possibly more, but it seems they have to move on without their lead star.
In an interview with E! News, Boreanaz said that season 11 will be a great way to end the series. Although he shared that he was beyond excited for this season, as they are going back to the series' roots, the actor explained that he is excited to move on.
If it were up to him, Boreanaz said that he will end it with eleven seasons. The actor said that he is beyond grateful for the opportunity he has been given but explained that perhaps it was about time that they put an end to "Bones." He shared that he was not counting the number of seasons but more of, he thought, the series had already
"It's great to see the show come to an end and do it the way we want to do it," he said.
This is not the first time that Boreanaz opened up about leaving the Fox series. Back in 2012, he tweeted that he finished shooting the final scene, adding that it was a "series wrap" for him. Since then, rumors started circulating that he will be leaving the show soon.
In other news, speaking to Assignment X, Peterson, who came in during the show's fourth season, said that he wanted the series to last forever. Although it has been around for 11 seasons, Peterson claimed that there is still a lot more story to tell.
