Nintendo has confirmed that the next Super Smash Bros. 4 DLC character is Cloud Strife. The fighter will be crossing over from the Final Fantasy 7 universe and will be the second Smasher to be introduced this year, joining Ryu of Street Fighter that got into the brawl April 2015.
Announced via the Nintendo Direct presentation, the entry of Cloud Strife to Super Smash effectively ended the rumors that Shovel Knight will be recruited as the new Smasher. The Inklings from Splatoon also made buzz as a popular choice but in the end, the online Fighter Ballot conducted by Nintendo appeared to have been topped by the Final Fantasy hero. No details, however, were provided by Nintendo on the matter.
Regardless, Cloud Strife is a welcome Super Smash addition and his arrival is projected to further enliven the super-hit Nintendo game with the following:
Massive Buster Sword
With Cloud Strife becoming a Smasher, iDigitalTimes is expecting that the FF7 hero will bring with him the humongous Buster Sword and "whirls it around like he's one of the Fire Emblem characters."
Appearance
In a YouTube clip of the Nintendo Direct presentation, Cloud was seen donning numerous costumes that likely will be based on the character's game and film renditions. One that is likely anticipated, Game Spot said, is a Cloud Strife look that harks back to the PlayStation One era, which was the platform that originally debuted the character.
New Super Smash stage
Game Spot reported too that the Cloud Strife character intro will not only entail the showcasing of Cloud's capabilities and adept moves but also of a stage expansion that largely will replicate the FF7 Midgar area.
New costumes
Along with the new add-on, Nintendo will also make Chocobo costumes for Mii Fighters available for download, Polygon reported.
Multi-platform
Nintendo has also assured that Cloud Strife is playable both on Wii U and 3DS versions of the Super Smash Bros. 4.
Amiibo figurine
Cloud Strife getting an Amiibo figurine soon will be hardly surprising, Game Spot said. However, Nintendo is yet to announce when this collectible will be released.
December outing
The most solid clue on release date - the time that Cloud Strife will become playable as a Super Smash character and his Amiibo figurine will start selling - is December 2015. Nintendo has indicated that the next Direct session will surely spill more beans on the confirmed Super Smash Bros. 4 character DLC.
