From Nov. 13-15, China is holding its third Shanghai International Children's Book Fair (CCBF) at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibitions and Convention Center.
The 2015 edition of the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award ceremony, a top kid's book award, will also be announced in Shanghai's Baoshan District.
The book fair is regarded as the sole event dedicated to promoting, advocating, publishing, printing and distributing children's books in the Asia-Pacific region. This year's fair will feature over 100 exhibitions, reading salons, launches, book signings, discussions and workshops.
The event will also include more than 50,000 Chinese and foreign children's books, 300 publishing houses, around 1,000 children's authors and illustrators, and other numerous cultural creativity hubs from China and abroad.
One of the major components of the event is illustration. According to the organizers, the fair will showcase over 800 works from 250 illustrators from across the globe. On display are pieces from 50 of the selected illustrators.
The fair will also feature the art exhibit, "Revealing French Illustrations and Picture Books - From France to China: Flying Illustrations." The works depict the development of illustration in France and tells the origins of each picture book. The installation will also include a mobile library developed by two students from Tsinghua University.
For the book fair's 2015 edition, the organizing committee has also set up express delivery services, charging stations, mother-and-baby rooms, and badges for children in case they get lost.
On the event's last day, many of the books are expected to be offered at great discounts.
