343 Industries has released the first batch of free content for "Halo 5: Guardians." With it comes new REQs, armors, weapons, maps, game types and more. Dubbed as the update of "Battle of Shadow and Light," the free content update is already available for download. All that players need to do is to log in to their consoles, and the update will automatically be prompted, Halo Waypoint detailed.
For those who want to see the design of upcoming weapons and armors for the "Battle of Shadow and Light" update, the developer has also included a chart that details the common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare and legendary items in the update.
A total of 48 REQs are available in the update. All of the weapon skins, armors, helmets and vehicle skins are included here. Big Team Battle game types will have the Motion Tracker that remains the same as the Warzone, with the match length now pegged at 16 minutes.
The three game types each have their own tasks to obtain wins. The BTB CTF requires three captures, the BTB Strongholds needs 150 points and the BTB Slayer needs 100 points to win.
There are four additional maps for Big Team Battles, all of which are available in either custom games or matchmaking. The new maps are Basin, Daedlock, Guillotine and Recurve. Finally, a couple of issues and tweaks also came with the update.
With the newest additional content now out for players, 343 Industries is now focusing on improving the overall multiplayer experience for "Halo 5: Guardians." The developer's most recent move is to look into the actions of players, specifically those that go against fair play.
Some players are currently taking advantage of exploits in the game, including a boost to REQ and XP points. Worse, there are even those who make use of exploits that would expose bonuses in the game that should not yet be accessible given the player's level, GameSpot reported.
It appears that the developer already has a list of players who have crossed the line. As such, these players are likely to experience a ban or some form of punishment for using the exploit.
"Our data team at the studio has not only caught this behavior, but we've so started taking action against offending accounts, including bans and removal of all REQ points," said 343 Industries in a statement as quoted by the publication.
This is just one of the updates that have been rolled out to players of "Halo 5: Guardians." Recently, the SWAT mode has also seen a change in that players no longer need to worry about friendly fire killing SWAT teammates. In addition, the respawn timer has been prolonged to three seconds to meet the balance between fast-paced shooting and proper game flow in SWAT mode.
