Joe Jonas' new band DNCE is set to release their debut disco-centric EP titled "SWAAY." Recently, the singer-actor who used to date Gigi Hadid talked about disco as part of gay culture as well as visiting a gay club with his brother.
In a recent interview with Pride Source, the DNCE frontman said he and his brother Nick Jonas went to a gay club a few months ago. About the experience, he said, "It was really fun, and actually, I was really impressed by the DJ."
Hadid's former boyfriend said the DJ in the gay club played everything and was "all over the map." He said the DJ had a really great musicality and he and Nick just had a great time.
Joe's DNCE band mates are drummer Jack Lawless, South Korean guitarist JinJoo and bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle. The band performed songs from "SWAAY" on Nov. 8 at the Cambridge Room of the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas, SMU Daily Campus reported.
When asked why the band's new music is disco, Joe said it is something he grew up listening to quite a bit as it was always played in their house.
When asked about his experience at the gay club, Joe said it was flattering. He added that he does not mind if someone is nice. For him, it is a great thing that they can encourage others to be themselves.
"A lot of guys come out to the shows , some gay guys as well, and I love that," Joe explained. "They rock out. They have fun, and I feel like the music is helping people express themselves in a way. I'm seeing people with glitter on their face, with the brightest colors."
Aside from releasing new music with his new band DCNE, Joe is also set to star in the upcoming drama film "The Highway is for Gamblers," which also stars Nikki Reed, Daniela Bobadilla and Bonnie Wright.
