"The Heart Wants What It Wants" singer Selena Gomez caused online outrage after posting a Twitter photo of herself with her ankle exposed taken during a visit to a mosque in the United Arab Emirates.
Gomez later on deleted the photo without commenting after it was slammed for being inappropriate on Twitter and Instagram.
During the 2014 year-end vacation, Gomez went to the Middle East with a group of friends, including Cody Simpson and models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. She has been sharing photos of her adventure on her social networks showing her and her friends wearing black robes with hijabs, which is the custom in the Muslim country.
On the other hand, in the controversial photo that shows her and a male friend taken inside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, her floor-length gown lifted slightly so her lower calf and bare ankle were exposed.
Because of this particular, she was accused of disrespecting the local religious culture because inside Islamic places of worship, it is forbidden for females to display their legs, according to Seattle Pi.
Meanwhile, Gomez's on-again-off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber is reportedly still desperate to win her back.
A source told Hollywood Life that Gomez is done with Bieber and the "Baby" hit maker "made one desperate attempt to get back in touch with her with his new jet but she wasn't interested."
The source added that Bieber tried to convince Gomez to go away with him. However, Gomez was not impressed because he did it via text and it is "not like he really tried at all to get her back."
